Coach Carboni
Coach Carboni is alumni of Holy Cross, Class of 68’, along with being a former Algebra teacher and well-known baseball coach. His journey began in his 2nd year of coaching East St. John at a scrimmage against Shaw. He found out about the opening and applied. In March of 1980 he was hired by Brother Robert Hampton to become head baseball coach, assistant football coach, and to teach Algebra I. His coaching career at HC lasted 25 years. He retired in April of 2005, becoming the longest tenured coach in HC Baseball history. He then continued to teach Algebra until 2017 where he gave 37 memorable years to the HC community. Coach Carboni visits to watch the games and to see both old and new faces roaming around the HC hallways. Coach Carboni has discussed moving to Austin, Texas with his wife, and after he and his wife retired in 2017, they decided to chase their dreams and move. They celebrated their 6-month anniversary of their new home on September 9. Coach Carboni is still a visitor to New Orleans, because both his family and HC family still live here. He misses his co-workers (especially the 8th grade center teachers), the students, both past and new, and his nephew currently attending HC. Coach Carboni feels like his career was executed to the best of his ability, and he wouldn’t have done anything differently. His one message to the students and staff of HC is, “Whatever you do, do it with passion and do it from your heart! The 100% effort will fall right into place!” I want to personally thank him for his work at HC and being so inspiring to the people at HC, we hope he further succeeds in his life in Texas.

Mr. DiGange
Mr. Charles DiGange is a Holy Cross alum of 1964. After he graduated college he returned to Holy Cross as a teacher in 1968. He left Holy Cross once again to become an Associate Vice President at Loyola University New Orleans. Mr. DiGange left Loyola in 2004 and asked the Board of Directors and the Brother of Holy Cross to return to Holy Cross as the Headmaster. Mr. DiGange served as the Headmaster in 2004 until Hurricane Katrina destroyed the school. He is proud of the fact that he had a role in helping save the second oldest Holy Cross foundation in the world today and bring it to 5500 Paris Ave. He decided to retire in 2017. Currently he is recovering from a back surgery and he says it is going well. He likes to work around his 9 acers of property in Madisonville and build within his workshop to help with his projects. As Mr. DiGange reminisces about his time at Holy Cross, he says that he does not have any regrets while working here. He misses interacting with the students the most and watching the boys grow into Holy Cross Men. Mr. DiGange’s message to the Holy Cross community is, “I miss them and please continue to work hard to fulfill the mission of Fr. Moreau. HC is a very special place.”
