Fourth Graders Explore Flow of Energy

The first activity in the FOSS Energy Module challenges the students to light a bulb using a D-cell battery and wires. The boys worked together to test different ideas that would make the bulb light up. They all came up with a solution and then added a motor and a switch to the circuit.

The next activity required them to test a variety of materials to determine whether electricity would flow through them or not. This introduced them to conductors and insulators where they came to the conclusion that most conductors are made of metals.

The students had a great time learning about science with real hands-on lab experiments.
