Our pre-kindergarten class has been studying classic folk tales, which teach an object lesson. This week we introduced the class to the story of ‘Little Red Hen.’ The object lesson was about working together and cooperating to achieve a common goal.
In the story, Little Red Hen finds some grains of wheat and decides to plant them in order to make bread. Red Hen asked all of her friends repeatedly to help as she planted, harvested, milled, mixed and baked the bread but no one would help. Unlike like the folk tale where no one helped Little Red Hen, the class all worked together to make bread by measuring the ingredients, mixing and kneading the dough and then baking it. Then they all shared the bread and enjoyed eating it with butter!
