Holy Cross High School Announces 2023 Rivalry Game Honorees

Holy Cross High School is proud to announce the 2023 student honorees who exemplify leadership, character, and commitment to their school and community.

Jake Roberts has been named the 2023 Scholar-Athlete and recipient of the Great American Rivalry Student-Athlete Award. As a senior linebacker for the Holy Cross Tigers football team, Jake maintains a 3.89 GPA and is a member of the Yearbook Club.

Mathew Cacamo has been selected for the 2023 Royal Honda Community Service Award for his dedication to service at Holy Cross, his church parish, and the greater community. Mathew is a safety and three-year letterman on the Holy Cross football team.

Mark "Trippi" Delesdernier III, Class of 1975, will be recognized as the 2023 Legend of the Game. During his accomplished football career at Holy Cross, Trippi earned All-State honors and recovered a fumble for a 51-yard touchdown in the 1974 rivalry game against Jesuit.

Finally, Harold "Hal" Brent, Class of 1958, is being honored as the 2023 Distinguished Military Alumnus. After graduating from Holy Cross, Hal served as an officer in the U.S. Army, Texas National Guard, U.S. Army Reserves, and Texas State Guard, retiring at the rank of Colonel in 2016 after 45 years of military service.

Holy Cross congratulates these outstanding students and alumni for being recognized for their achievements and contributions. Their character and service exemplify the Holy Cross values and tradition of excellence.
