The Loretta Clement mathematics prize was awarded at the liturgy on Friday, April, 21. Loretta Clement was a mathematics teacher at Holy Cross from 1970-1973. She played an integral role in Douglas Southon’s ’73 educational path. His education led him to a wildly successful engineering career. He was so impacted by her teaching that he created the Loretta Clement Mathematics Prize to honor her.
As a result, her influence can still be felt today as we recognize this year’s recipient, Blade Schneider ’24. Nominated by the Math Department, Blade’s determination, dedication, and academic merit in mathematics have qualified him to receive the $500 prize.
