Dear Coach Mike,
I have had the privilege of learning from you on two fronts, Football and Algebra. The time spent on the field and in the classroom has been some of the best at Holy Cross for me. On the Football side of things, you always believed that I was better than I was. Whether it was you yelling at me because I ran the wrong way during a play or praising me because I was the only one who did something right, you were always there. You always said, “The day I stop yelling at you, is the day that I give up,” and I’m honored and blessed to say that you never stopped yelling at me. You gave me a chance that no other coach before you gave me. You allowed me to show others that I had a place on that team. I truly believe that your coaching has molded me into a better person.
In the classroom, you have been just as influential. You have been able to help me achieve something that no other math teacher has been able to do, and that’s getting me higher than a D on a report card. You have taught me and many others in my class the best way to prepare for the ACT math test. Because of that method, you helped me get into college. Your love for Holy Cross is unmatched, and I believe that you are the living embodiment of what it means to be a Holy Cross Man. While I am saddened to leave your class and will no longer have you as a teacher or a coach, I am happy for those who get to learn under you. They will be able to learn everything that you have taught me, and that’s more than just math. Coach Baiamonte, thank you for everything you have done for me and this school.
Thank you,
John Sheridan
