Ring Mass Without a Ring Dance

By: Luke St. Amant, '21

This year's class of 2021 was very excited to receive their senior rings, but due to Corona-virus restrictions they were not able to have a ring dance. Many of the seniors were unhappy with this unfortunate situation because the tradition has been taken out of their hands and they will never get it back.  Seniors only get to experience this once in their lifetime, and they feel like it was taken away from them. However, the administration is still working hard to figure out a way for the seniors to have a ring dance, just at a later date. This effort just goes to show how important this dance is and how meaningful it is to the class of 2021. Seniors who have had brothers graduate from Holy Cross have talked to them about senior ring dance and how much fun it usually is. “My brother [class of 2016] said it was such a fun experience with all of his classmates for one last time," said Gavin Schulz, '21. Students who have attended Holy Cross since middle school have heard the stories from former senior classes. This is a time to celebrate with your classmates the beginning of the end, before students start going off to college. It is an everlasting memory that the class of 2021 did not get to experience like all of the classes did before them. Headmaster, Sean Martin, has been active with the senior class and doing everything in his power to have the dance as soon as possible as well as salvaging other senior traditions. With his help and the seniors' patience and cooperation, the senior class of 2021 will hopefully get to experience their ring dance at some point and still have a memorable senior year.
