Olympic Gold medalist, Jason Lezak, came to Holy Cross campus and spoke about the work involved and the story as to how he was able to become an Olympic swimmer. His message was all the hard work involved to stay motivated to do something great, starts with goals whether they be long term or short-term goals. Lezak had noted that swimming was something that he was interested in and worked toward ever since he was a little kid and inspires students to work for their goals and dreams. “I really got a lot out of it and I think I can apply everything he said to myself in school and in athletics,” said Carlos Castellanos, ‘21. Lezak had made note that for a long time in high school he had lost track of his goals for a bit and was really just going through the motions and just doing what he was supposed to do as opposed to trying to excel and be something great. Lezak essentially told us that whenever we are working for a dream or a goal when it comes to the hard work involved, we should never just be there and just get through it but instead go that extra mile and be even greater. “When he talked about him being a high school kid and just going through the motions that really stuck to me and I think its advice I will apply,” noted freshman, Blake Steib. Lezak inspires students at Holy Cross to have goals and dreams and understand the hard work and commitment that will go into it. Lezak wants students to understand that no matter how difficult things will get and no matter how much doubt will get into your mind, you should always stay committed, work hard, excel in all the hard work that you do and never lose sight of your goals and dreams no matter what they are.
