The Battle of the Tigers

The long awaited college football national championship is being played Monday, January 13, at the Mercedes Benz Superdome, and will be a battle of the Tigers between LSU and Clemson. This should be a fairly close contest, as Clemson is the defending champions, and LSU leads the nation in offensive points per game with 48.9. Senior and Clemson fan, Chance Colomb says, “Clemson has all the talent in the world to beat LSU, they have also won 29 straight games and are the defending champs. LSU hasn’t seen a defense let alone a team like Clemson all year, and I think Trevor Lawrence is going to come in and prove he is the most talented quarterback in the nation and walk out with a win.” Colomb’s Pick for the national championship is obviously Clemson, and it’s a fair pick considering they have won 25 straight games under starting sophomore quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. But on the other sideline, LSU has Jim Thorpe award winner Grant Delpit leading the LSU tigers defense to try and stop Clemson’s offensive attack. And, on the opposite side of the ball, LSU has their very own Joe Burrow, the reigning Heisman winner and widely accepted best quarterback of all of college football, who hopes to continue his hot streak this season and more importantly, pick up where he left off with the win vs. Oklahoma. The goal for LSU to win is for their front seven to get pressure on Trevor Lawrence, and to put up points like they have all year long. “I think LSU is going to win because they are simply one of the best football teams I’ve ever seen, let alone the greatest offenses I’ve ever watched,” comments senior and LSU fan, Joey Bazile. It is set up to be one of the best games all season, and hopefully LSU can walk out of the dome with their first national championship victory since 2007. GEAUX TIGERS!
