Joe Burrow: Louisiana's Last Hope

By Jeremy Lindsey

The New Orleans Saints lost in the first round of the NFL playoffs and that broke many people’s hearts. The New Orleans Pelicans’ record is 12-25 so it would be really tough for them to make it to the playoffs and win a title. It is now up to Joe Burrow and the LSU tigers to lift our spirits and give us something to cheer about.

Joe Burrow is an American football college quarterback. He is from a small town in Ohio. Before transferring to LSU, he was the 3rd string quarterback at Ohio State. Recently, he has won multiple awards, one of them being the ultimate football player's honor, the Heisman. He has led the LSU tigers to a 14-0 season and will most likely be the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft. For many people that live in Louisiana he is the last hope that they have for sports this year. English teacher, Jennifer Gonzales wrote an open letter to Burrow exclaiming, “You’ve got it all, and what’s even better, is that you’ve brought it all to Louisiana.”

Burrow has thrown for over 5,200 yards and has had 55 touchdowns. Those are outstanding stats for any quarterback in a single season, especially in college. The way Burrow handles himself on and off the field is why so many fans and people have so much faith in him to win the national championship for the state of Louisiana. Burrow continues to be humble through it all and manages to inspire his team each week. His character on and off the field is what got him to this point and is what gives this state confidence and their support. Gonzales mentions in her letter, “[Joe Burrow] is a leader by example.” Burrow is Louisiana’a last hope to win something huge like the CFP National Championship this year. The whole state is behind Burrow and is hoping that he can pull off the win against the Clemson Tigers for the national championship. Thanks, Joe, and GEAUX TIGERS!!
