Drama Club Spotlight

The Drama department is looking to put on a spectacular performance for the 2019-2020 school year. Holy Cross’ Center Stage is the school’s local theatre troupe and is HC’s very own drama club that meets every Wednesday after school in the Watson Theater. Center Stage is also part of a larger global organization called the International Thespian Society. This is an organization that both high school and middle school students, worldwide, can belong to and Center Stage belongs to it as well. Senior, Trace Sweeney, is the President of Center Stage this year with Hunter Tatman as his Vice-President. Sweeney wants his last year in the drama department to run smoothly, and he wants to be as involved as he can so he can leave with happy memories while having hopes to attract new students he wants to fill the role that he has in Center Stage. Sweeney has also been given the lead role in the school’s upcoming play, The 39 Steps, which is a comedy, set to premiere in November.

Mrs. Maria Baisier is the head of the Drama Department at Holy Cross. She is also the head director for every show. The 39 Steps will be Baisier’s 78th show and hopes to get her 80th by the end of the year. She hopes that people will join with enthusiasm for performing on the stage. Baisier plans on doing Little Shop of Horrors and The Prince and the Pauper after The 39 Steps and wants to take it all the way to state competition. Break a leg this year Center Stage!
