Sometimes in classrooms, all over the country, students can find themselves very bored which can lead to them getting into trouble. Often, students will resort to playing on their devices during class. This is due to the lack of knowledge on how to properly pass the time after finishing their assigned class work. The Bulletin is here to help students both stay out of trouble and make time feel like it is going by faster. Here are a few ways students can do so:
1. Changing pen caps. This might not be the most entertaining thing to do, however it will keep you out of trouble and make time fly by. The process of changing pen caps involves having pens that you can unscrew and having different colors of ink. This activity will keep your hands busy and requires focus.
2. Doodling. As explained by Mrs. Lumas, college counselor, “If you are finished all of your classwork and your teacher gives you some free time, you can draw or doodle.” Drawing is a great way to help relieve the mind of any stress or anxiety. Even though drawing is very relaxing, we don’t encourage drawing or doodling while class is in session, just during some free time or after you’ve completed an assignment.
3. Work on another class’ assignment. The best way to pass time and stay out of trouble is work on other classwork. As described by Mrs. Lavender, 8th grade Science Teacher, “I believe students should work on other class periods of work.” Working on other classwork can extend the amount of free time one has at home as well – two birds with one stone!
Hopefully, these ideas can provide you with productivity during a break in class, keep students out of trouble, and, more importantly, help time go by faster.
