Every year, the senior class puts on a game of Assassin. Everyone follows a twitter account to enter. The day before the game starts, the head of the twitter direct messages everyone who their targets are, and the players have 10 days to eliminate their target. If not, they get knocked out. The best part about the game is that not only do the players need to eliminate their target, they need to avoid the person targeting them. The players use Nerf guns as weapons.
The game was created for fun and to help students through the end of the senior year. Brad Boozer, one of the administrator’s, commented, “I got the idea from my friend, Austin Bush (class of 2017). He and his senior class did it, and ever since he told me about it I wanted to do it with my own class. I wanted to do assassin since the beginning of the school year, but it kept getting pushed back and I eventually forgot about it. With our senior year coming to an end, everything started to slowdown and frankly became boring in my opinion. I wanted to give the class something to do together and bring a little bit of life back to my class and end our last year on an exciting note.” A player in this game, Antonio Rivera thinks that, "So far, the game has been a very fun and creative game that I have really enjoyed. I feel as if the game gives us a reason to really bond together as a class."
Here are the rules:
- No playing on campus, at school events, or at any type of school sponsored practice, or the inside of workplaces. Crescent Street is fair game.
- Round 1 will end in 10 days. As well as the following rounds.
- Only Nerf guns with darts. Nerf guns using balls or discs is off-limits and the eliminations will not count. Also, the bullet must come out of the gun, cannot be thrown.
- You have to record yourself eliminating your target or take a picture with them holding the dart that eliminated them.
- You can ONLY shoot your assassin if they draw a Nerf gun on you. If they are at your house, it is assumed they are there to eliminate you.
- You cannot use your gun as a shield. If the bullet hits your gun, you are out.
- You cannot physically engage your target to eliminate them. Essentially no restraining.
- No shooting while driving, however you can shoot as a passenger.
- Nothing Illegal. This is the most important rule because the players and moderators do not want to get the game shut down.
The Assassin game ends when there is only one person standing. Some players think the game is going to end in the first round and some think it may last into college. Halfway through the first round, 5 days, 26 out of the 88 players have died. Good Luck to everyone still participating and may the best man win.
