NEW ORLEANS -- Holy Cross School was selected as a winner in the POWERADE “Power Your School” contest and received a $10,000 check from Coca-Cola today at a special awards ceremony. A group of students submitted a video, which won a $10,000 grand prize in the national contest.
The POWERADE Power Your School contest requires schools to submit a video or essay that demonstrates why the school needs or deserves the cash prize. A panel of judges rated entries based on creativity and originality, how well the entry fits the theme, incorporation of POWERADE in the submission, and the quality of the submission. POWERADE awarded 50 grand prizes of $10,000 and 150 first prizes of $2,000.
“Making the Impossible Possible” is the theme of the video submitted by Holy Cross School. You can watch the winning video on the Holy Cross School website. The entry features athletes from a variety of programs showing that practice while using the hydration power of Powerade can make you succeed.
The Holy Cross video included the talent of seniors Nathan Vail (editor), Trent Terminie, Kalil Thomas, Elias Brown, and junior Bryan Broussard (actors), under the direction of AV Club moderator Mr. Eric Ferry.
Thursday’s pep rally also included a brief ceremony to honor the recent accomplishments of several Holy Cross teams: Powerlifting, Wrestling, Robotics, Basketball and Soccer.
Representatives from Coca-Cola who made the presentation included Jerry Drain (Business Development Rep), Mike Ortiz (Business Development Manager), Mike Martinez (Franchise Manager), Ron Fix (Territory Manager) and Lynn Bischof Bowers (Media and Promotions Manager - Gulf States Division).
