Have you ever been hungry or wanted a snack after school? If so, there are multiple good options that are relatively close to Holy Cross. They have Popeyes, Burger King, Wendy’s, and Subway, but the two best are Wendy’s and Subway. Whether you can drive or not Subway is walking distance from school. It is only a half mile away, which is about a ten-minute walk. The best thing about Subway is that you can get something to just snack on instead of having to buy a whole meal when you aren’t that hungry. They offer a variety of chips and also have an assortment of delicious cookies. They have regular chocolate chip, double chocolate, macadamia nut, and raspberry cheesecake cookies. Subway’s menu can also accommodate any appetite you might have, big or small. You can get a 6-inch sandwich or a footlong with whatever you want on it, along with a side of chips or cookies. The pricing isn’t expensive either. You can get the footlong meal for $10, and the chips and cookies for under $5. Senior Michael Englade said, “They open up at 7:00 AM, so it’s perfect to go there before school to get a sandwich for lunch.”
Another good fast food joint around campus if you are hungry is Wendy’s. It is located at the corner of Elysian Fields Ave. and Robert E. Lee Blvd. Even though Wendy’s isn’t really in walking distance, it is, however, only a 5-minute drive from school. Wendy’s has a drive-thru which makes everything much simpler. The good thing about Wendy’s is the assortment: anything from fries, coffee, frosties, salads, nuggets, burgers, and cookies. Junior Everett Planchett said, “A frosty and fries is the best afterschool snack.” In addition to the plethora of snack options, Wendy’s always has good deals going on, along with a dollar menu. The 4 for $4 is their signature deal; you get a burger or chicken sandwich, chicken nuggets, fries, and a drink for $4. You can’t beat that!
Both places are great fast food options to go to after school because of the short distances from school, the wide varieties, and price points. These options make it a lot easier to eat when your stomach growls right at the 2:45 bell.
